The inquisitor will be able to influence the world quite realistically and on a large scale, capturing outpost fortresses, hiring agents and sending them on missions by his own decree; he will have to develop the captured places, and nothing will be given for free. You will have to hire the right people, create conditions for trade, and so on. You won’t just capture a fortress and settle in it, but you’ll also be able to customize it by changing its appearance. By the way, the territories in which the main action will unfold became known relatively recently. The center of Church power is also located there - the Great Cathedral, one of the most majestic buildings of Thedas. Currently it is not in the best shape, but players have long speculated about where Dragon Age: Inquisition will take place, putting this country in the first place and they, in fact, partially guessed. Quite little is known about Nevarra and we can only speculate about what awaits us in this no less colorful country. The ruler of the country is the Pentagast family, a representative of which we have already met in the game; this is Cassandra, one of the seekers of the Church. We have to visit all these places and we will not just run through a couple of cities and forests, but will be able to fully explore the vast, open territories inside each of these countries, and it will be quite difficult to do this on our own, so the developers have introduced a vehicle - horses. One of the locations that was shown during the demo presentation at PAX Prime 2013 was medium in size by the standards of Dragon Age: Inquisition and even it is much larger than all the locations from Dragon Age II combined and thank God that we will not see the shame that was in the second part of the series, no more identical and repeating locations that you will have to return to over and over again. For example, you can destroy the platform on which the archers stand and they will fall straight to the ground, or you can destroy the gates of some fortress, plus all sorts of little things, not to mention destructible buildings. The environment will have a non-illusory effect on the hero's movement. In deserts, for example, it will be more difficult to move, and the position of our Inquisitor on the ground will adequately affect his animation, this system was borrowed from the guys from EA Sports, clothes will be covered with dirt or blood, and many other delights of the new engine await us. Beautiful weather effects, detailed environment, huge locations, physics, it seems to me that the developers definitely did not make a mistake with these changes, everything looks simply amazing, but let’s return to the gameplay itself. Combat System One of the main aspects of Dragon Age is the combat system. In Dragon Age: Origins, it was tactical and slow, which made it possible to build various strategies and combinations, but many players did not like the slow and meditative movements, which in part made the battles believable, but on the other hand, terribly boring. In the second part, the developers went to the extreme and greatly sped up the battles, bringing them closer to the action, in some places it looked a little... funny and completely out of the atmosphere of the game. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, the developers tried to find a middle ground and combine both types of combat system, now it is not too fast and does not smell “Japanese”, but at the same time it is entertaining enough so as not to make every battle a hellish torment of boredom for the player. The long-awaited tactical view has also returned, which will allow players to think through each turn of the battle more thoughtfully and interestingly. Customization

An equally important part of the game is the customization of the character and his equipment. In DA:O, we only had the opportunity to slightly diversify the appearance of our character and followers, but, unfortunately, in the second, this opportunity was also taken away from us. Only certain armor sets, only for certain classes and very little variety, not to mention the design is not very good. In the new Bioware game, they also took this error into account; now we will have enormous opportunities to customize not only the character’s appearance thanks to the new editor, but also the ability to change, craft and equip our protagonist with any armor; there will be no identical armor at all. True, you won’t be able to create a weapon or armor for yourself on the fly; you will have to get to a certain place where this is possible and even collect materials for manufacturing, hunting all kinds of living creatures or searching the explored territories. Now there are practically no class restrictions, although you won’t be able to give a magician a sword, for example, but you can always dress him up in independently crafted and customized heavy armor, not to mention other armor that you can easily put on your character . You will also be able to change equipment with your party members without any special obstacles, but there is a possibility that in the future there will be some restrictions on the characteristics of the characters, so as not to make some classes imbalanced (too strong) due to wearing this or that armor/weapon, as it was in Dragon Age: Origins. Characters, relationship system One of the main calling cards of games from the Bioware studio is the relationship between the characters, the interaction between them and their stories. The opportunity to become both a friend and an enemy, and if you wish, you can even start an affair. All this made Bioware's games something unique among other RPGs. Dragon Age: Origins had a lot of interesting characters. For example, here is the mysterious, slightly bitchy and not quite standard Morrigan, religious, and at the same time hiding the “dark” secrets of the past of Leliana, who was a more “standard” companion. There were also merry fellows, like the ever-drunken Ogren and the goofy bastard Alistair, from whom they tried to make a templar and who does not like being “attacked” on him. All of them were available for love, or you could become enemies and they would simply leave you.

In Dragon Age II, the relationship system underwent some changes; the approval scale was removed, increasing which you earned the favor of another character. Instead, two alternative branches of relationships appeared - the ability to build them on friendship or on rivalry, even in the second case you could calmly indulge in amorous affairs or have completely normal friendly relations. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, the approval scale and the ability to give gifts will return, but now the level of interaction with satellites will be deeper and more thoughtful. They won't always agree with you, and you don't have to follow their lead to get approval or start an affair. Each of them will be a full-fledged individual who will be guided by his own principles and interests. The characters will be aware of your actions, will have their own attitude towards them, and all this will be more closely connected to the storyline. Some details will be more frank and adult. Your interaction and relationship outcome will not be limited to, “Hey, I’m here waiting for you in my tent.” Instead, you will really know how this or that character feels, he will react in his own way to what you did or are going to do. All these are just the characters that Bioware officially announced. Leliana and Morrigan will return from previous games, but they will not be companions of the main character, but the developers have made it clear that the former will play a significant role in the game. Bioware decided to fix these problems, but did not abandon the wheel, although now we have many more answer options, and when you hover over a paraphrase, a separate line will appear with a more complete description of what your Inquisitor will say as a result. The possibility of expressing emotions by the Inquisitor himself in certain situations is also considered. At the development stage, there is an opportunity to “intervene” in the conversations of your comrades, interrupting their pleasant conversation, and you can also simply refuse to talk with the NPC if you want. The dialogue wheel system actually looks pretty good, it just needed to be done correctly and in an interesting way. The first damn thing was lumpy, but now there is every chance that the dialogues will become interesting, rich and varied, with various variations. Some of our choices and decisions will affect the world. However, Bioware wants your actions to speak louder than your words. You can say one thing in dialogues, but end up doing something completely different.

Like any self-respecting modern RPG, Dragon Age: Inquisition also includes crafting armor and weapons. Unlike the first part, here crafting is not limited to inserting runes - now we are given the opportunity to create a thing from scratch, choosing the appearance, type, material, which gives the necessary bonuses and improvements. Although the runes also remain, where would we be without them? In general, in my humble opinion, crafting is done dullly and not interesting, like everything else in this sad game, there are a lot of opportunities, but running around collecting all this junk is not very fun.

Sketches of weapons and armor

At the very beginning, to create items, upgrades or runes, you will need sketches of these same items, upgrades and runes. Where can I get them? In chests, from merchants, missions at headquarters, sometimes even from bosses. Sketches are displayed in the list of items available for crafting; they can be used as much as you like and, best of all, they do not take up space in your inventory.

There are only 3 levels of sketches in the game. The higher it is, the more cells there will be in the item, the better quality and with more bonuses it will be possible to create the item. Level 1 sketches require the presence of 2 cells, level 2 - 3 cells, level 3 sketches - 4 cells.

The crafting system here is logical - heavy armor will require a large amount of metal, a little less leather and rarely will you need fabric, but for a mage's robe it's the opposite. For swords and weapon hilts, you need a base, as well as a leather or fabric braid and the like.

There are 4 types of cells in total: the main one, which determines the basic parameters, and three additional ones, the set of which may vary depending on the sketch. Namely:

Damage— the main cell for weapons, determines damage per second depending on the material, as well as the type of elemental attack of the staff.

Attack— an additional slot for weapons and weapon upgrades. Depending on the material, it adds bonuses to attack types or the likelihood of imposing status effects on the enemy.

Armor— the main cell for armor, determines the level of armor depending on the material and protection from physical damage in melee.

Protection- additional slot for armor and armor upgrades. Depending on the material, it adds resistance bonuses from elemental, ranged and magical attacks, as well as the likelihood of retaliatory bleeding or additional health.

Support— an additional cell for all types of items. Depending on the material, it adds stat points (dexterity, magic, etc.).

For upgrades of any level, only two additional slots are always available; upgrades can only add bonuses and/or stat points, but not damage or armor level (the exception is Bianca).

Types of improvements and crafting

Armor

There are 3 types of armor available for crafting (light, medium and heavy), as well as helmets of each of the three types. For almost all types of armor, two upgrade slots are available: bracers and leggings (the exception is special armor like the Elven Guardian Robe or the armor of the Legion of the Dead). Improvements are created separately, but according to a similar principle.

Sometimes ready-made improvements can be found in chests or received as a reward for completing a mission at headquarters. Improvements can also be removed from dropped items and placed on others.

Crafting materials

To create weapons and armor in the game there are 3 types of materials: metal, leather and fabric, in turn they are further divided into 3 levels. The higher the material level, the higher the armor level or bonus indicator. The type of armor also varies depending on the material.

Metal is found using the search button (or a keen eye) in caves and on mountain slopes in the form of small clusters of several types of each per location. In the Emerald Graves in the Argon Shack you can buy the Perfect Luster, obsidian and pyrophyte, and Sero Colored Glass is sold in Skyhold from a merchant from Orlais.

You will have the opportunity to create excellent things in Skyhold after inviting the enchantress (mission at headquarters). When creating an item, a separate slot for an excellent item appears, right above the main one. Ordinary materials will not work here. For an excellent item, you need metals, leathers or fabrics touched by the Shadow that come across randomly during collection, as well as special finds like a dragon tooth or iron bark. Only one unit of such material can be inserted into a cell, but filling it is not required.

Special materials provide a short-term ability, such as Walking Fortress, Unbreakable or Shadow Cloak, a chance to gain a bonus to focus accumulation or heal up to 15% of health on a killing blow. Possible bonuses are generated randomly, and there are many of them.

However, you shouldn’t rejoice ahead of time, thinking that you will be able to make the best sword or staff in the game at the very beginning of your playthrough. The fact is that first of all you will have to find a good sketch, and then collect rare materials, and only then will you have the opportunity to create an item in the workshop.

Therefore, it is not yet entirely clear what is more difficult - getting purple items (unique) or sketches for powerful items. Thus, you should not write off weapons and armor that drop from monsters (mainly from high dragons) and are located in well-hidden treasuries.

In this guide, we will not only cover the best weapons of each type (one-handed, two-handed, bows, staves, and daggers) and shields, but we will also present lists of unique weapons. Unfortunately, they cannot yet be called complete, since there are many hiding places in “Inquisition” that no one has yet been able to discover. When crafting weapons and shields, we did not take into account the ten percent bonus received from special materials (dragon tooth, for example). Let's explain - in the game, in addition to the usual crafting slots, there are special slots into which you can add an item touched by a shadow (it adds a unique ability to the item), or a material that with a probability of ten to one hundred percent increases all the characteristics of the item. Be sure to use them when crafting equipment to maximize its usefulness.

By the way, saving/loading will not help in this case. Therefore, if you want to get an improved item, then you need to do the following: save, create an unnecessary item and use a dragon’s tooth (in the first case, you are unlikely to get an enhancement), and then craft the thing we already need (in the second case, the enhancement usually works). If it was not possible to improve the item the second time, then we load the previous save and make two unnecessary items, and the third time - the item we need.

One-handed

In Dragon Age: Inquisition, one-handed weapons are usually carried by tanks (warriors equipped with shields). For this reason, the main parameters of this weapon are physique and strength, thanks to which a melee fighter is able to withstand a considerable number of attacks and at the same time inflict as much damage as possible on the enemy. If we look at the sketches, the best ones for crafting are: Engraved Ax with a Goatee and Wrath of the Serpent. The first drops randomly from chests located in locations intended for players above level sixteen, and the second can be found in the Whistling Wastes in a tomb located northeast of the Statue Camp.

For a tank, the Serpent's Fury ax is preferable, because it has one support slot that increases physique. Therefore, we will consider it - to craft the best version, we will need the following resources: dragon bone and everite. Metal is needed for attack slots, and bones are used for damage and support. Thus, we get an excellent one-handed weapon with an excellent damage per second indicator: 279 DPS.

Note: We remind you that amplifiers, runes and additional items are not taken into account. Together with them, the DPS easily exceeds three hundred units.

When considering rare weapons, you will notice that only the Song of the Marshes ax can compete with a homemade one, which is issued for completing special missions on the war table, which are directly related to the Hero of Ferelden - the main character of Dragon Age: Origins. If he died in the first part, then there will be no additional quests with him in Inquisition.

Unique one-handed weapons:


Two-handed

Damagers are equipped with two-handed weapons (deal maximum damage to the enemy). Most often, unique two-handed weapons are found, that is, finding a sketch of a powerful ax or two-handed sword is incredibly difficult. Of the sketches, the most powerful is the recipe for the War Hammer, which randomly drops out of chests located in high-level locations. You may not get it during your entire playthrough of the game, so we recommend that you pay attention to purple weapons, which are much easier to get.

Some powerful two-handed weapons are sold by merchants, such as Siege's End, but their prices are sometimes staggering. If you have not yet been able to scrape together a sufficient number of gold coins, then we recommend crafting ordinary two-handed swords, hammers and axes. In this case, you need to increase the characteristics of attack, strength and armor penetration. A good sketch of an ax called Hossberg Twainer can be purchased from a merchant in the Suledin fortress (Emprise du Lyon).

As for the best unique weapons, the most powerful is the Sulevin Blade, which can be used by a warrior who has reached level twenty. To get it you will have to go through a difficult quest. To start it, you need to get to the Emprise du Lyon location and find the corpse of a merchant in the mountains. In his inventory we find a note that talks about the legendary elven blade. After this, access to a new location opens on the military table, where the fragments of the sword we need are located.

Don't forget to upgrade your two-handed weapon with a pommel and shaft to increase its characteristics. For a two-hander, the most important thing is to increase the likelihood of a crit and its size. Also install runes that increase the damage of a sword, hammer or ax.

Unique two-handed weapons:

We move from ordinary weapons to magical ones, which are used by wizards and sorcerers of all stripes. Among the unique staves, there are some quite interesting specimens, but they are all inferior to items that you can craft yourself. Purple staves usually drop from high dragons or story bosses, and some can be purchased from merchants for fabulous money. The best sketches include the following recipes: the excellent Mortalitasi staff and the excellent Archon staff. Their standard DPS is 115 units. The first one will be more effective for the magician, but the probability of receiving the second staff is much higher.

The fact is that the excellent Archon staff is awarded for completing a number of tasks about a spy on the military table of the command headquarters, which appear after completing the personal quest of the Iron Bull (you need to prevent the Qunari ship from being blown up). When making it, we use dragon bone and third-level fabric, which increases magic.

As for unique weapons, the best staves are: Yavanalis and Void Staff. Both can be purchased from merchants (in the Suledin Fortress and the capital of Orlais). The Void Staff can also be obtained by killing the High Dragon Hivernal. Naturally, these staves are inferior to homemade items, but they are also quite good.

If for some reason you were unable to obtain the above sketches, then a good alternative to them can be the staff of the First Sorcerer, the standard DPS of which is also 115 units, but the crafting materials at the same time increase the not entirely necessary characteristics of the magician. You can buy this recipe from a merchant in the Suledin Fortress.

Unique staves:

Archers in Inquisition become the main damage dealers in the later stages of the game. Thanks to their special abilities, they can inflict incredible damage on the enemy. Plus, characters of this class are far from enemies during battle, and therefore they are not at risk of being killed, which cannot be said about assassins, who have to be in the thick of the battle.

If we look at the sketches, one of the most powerful bows is the excellent spiked longbow, whose DPS is 172 units. There is also a swan longbow with the same damage per second, but slightly different slots for materials. It is much more difficult to find, so let’s look at the “spike”. You can find a sketch for it in the tomb of the gnomes, located in the Whistling Wastes. To create the best version of this bow, we will need the following materials: dragon scales, webbing and bones, as well as snuffler skin or all-rounder scales (used for the support slot).

As a result, we will have an excellent long-range weapon with a high percentage of armor penetration. This will allow the archer to easily deal with well-protected mobs, as well as high dragons, who often create additional armor for themselves. If we talk about secondary devices, then in this case we use a fine-made handle. It increases the chance of a crit and the penetrating power of weapons. You can use any rune, but we recommend using a desecrating stone, since we will mainly have to fight living creatures.

Among the unique weapons, the most powerful is the griffin longbow, which can be worn by archers who have reached level eighteen. Per second, he is capable of inflicting 170 units of damage to any enemy. A good weapon, but homemade is still better.

Unique bows:

In addition to bows, robbers can also carry daggers. The ones that cause the most damage are those that are created independently. These, for example, include an excellent blade with two curves, which can be found in one of the tombs of the gnomes located in the Whistling Wastes. Its DPS reaches 341 units. To craft the best option, we need dragon scales and bones.

We have at our disposal excellent daggers with considerable bonuses to crits, cunning and dexterity. Don't forget to also create a tight handle for the paired blades.
